Dallas opens new $20 million recycling center
Regrettably Dallas has succumbed to the idea that it is cheaper to throw something away rather than recycle it. Dallas is far behind the curve, even by the standards the city set for itself in 2013. Even a brand-new $20-million recycling center and new efforts from city leaders did not raise the rate above the paltry 20% it was at in 2013.
This risks the closure of the landfill earlier than hoped in 2062, which seems far away, but presents a real dilemma for those new communities being built in North Dallas like Frisco, Prosper and Celina. Other Texas cities are doing far better.
