More room for luxury

Behind a well running hotel is a solid waste solution. The more time the staff spends on waste handling, the less time they have to spend on the more important task of servicing the guests. A baler saves time, money and reduces the CO2 emissions.

Reduction of 3/4 of the dumpsters

Prior to installing the low profile baler from Bramidan, the hotel would dispose of over twenty small container-loads of waste every day. In the spring of 2007, Bramidan changed this when they installed a baler model X25 HD low-profile, in the hotel basement. Since then, daily waste output has amounted to only four small dumpsters. The hotel has saved a significant amount in dumpster rental and hauling fees. This updated waste disposal system is environmentally beneficial as well as saving the staff time breaking down boxes.

“Thanks to the baler we now sort our waste types. This means that we actually get paid for some of the waste, which can be used for recycling. So we take care of the environment and save money at the same time”, explains George, the Hotel Manager.

Much easier workflow

The hotel is very busy with a hard working staff – the job of providing each guest with a luxury experience requires a lot of coordination. To the hotel staff the new waste disposal system has eased their workload. Twenty containers take up a lot of space and the regulations for the waste hauling in the city was complicated as well:
“The containers could only be pulled out on the pavement at 5 am, when most of the staff was gone! The hotel is located in a highly touristed area and a lot of people are strolling late at night. Local authorities require that we pull the containers out just before their collection. Otherwise, the hotel will be fined”.

As the waste was reduced from twenty to four container-loads, the municipality has become less restrictive – as the hotel no longer blocks most of the side walk. “The containers can now be pulled out on the sidewalk at 2 am, when the staff is still on duty which is a great help”, George concludes.
