Cardboard waste started to overflow workspaces

The boxes are used for inter-company deliveries and then discarded once clothing is ready to be transported to a distributor. The high volume of various sizes of cardboard waste began to overflow into the company’s shipping and production spaces, as well as their parking lot, which led them to purchase a Bramidan 60” mill-size bailer. With the installation of a B6030 baler, the warehouse is now clear for staff to carry on with their daily production and shipping tasks.

Four pallets of stacked cardboard boxes now equal just one 60 inch bale

Prior to using a bailer solution to compact their recyclable waste, the California denim manufacturer was assigning employees to break down cardboard boxes and stack them on pallets. The material that once was stored on 4 pallets now equals just one 60” mill-size bale of cardboard. Citizen of Humanity’s Production Manager, Dora Linhares, says they are very satisfied with the vertical baler and have already seen the positive effects of baling cardboard. Dora says, “We save so much time and effort. We don’t have to break the boxes down and we always have space in the shipping area. I was even able to take one person from doing that box managing job and put them in production!”

Unexpected benefits of purchasing baler and customer satisfaction

The West Coast producer has also expressed surprise at the lack of interruptions the machine has had on their daily tasks. Their warehouse security guard, who sits at a desk just a few feet away from the bailer, says the noise level is so low, he hardly notices when it is being operated. He is able to complete paperwork without any distractions.

With the addition of the B6030, Citizens of Humanity is now receiving money for their finished bales of cardboard. Dora says, “We used to have to truck all of that cardboard to a recycler and it was costing us money, now they pick it up and pay us for our bales.” When asked about her experience with Bramidan she says, “You score a 20 out of a scale form 1-10. You were so good!”.

We save so much time and effort. We don’t have to break the boxes down and we always have space in the shipping area. We were even able to take one person from handling boxes and put them in production.
